Most patients see visible improvement within the first 3 months. You wear each aligner 20-22 hours per day and switch to the next set every 1-2 weeks.
Is Invisalign better than braces?
Both straighten teeth effectively. Invisalign advantages: virtually invisible, removable for eating and brushing, no food restrictions, no metal brackets, fewer clinic visits (every 6-8 weeks vs 4-6 weeks for braces), better oral hygiene, predictable results via 3D ClinCheck preview. Traditional braces may still be preferred for severe orthodontic cases — Dr. Mittu will recommend the best option after your consultation.
Does Invisalign hurt?
Invisalign is significantly more comfortable than braces. No sharp metal brackets or wires causing cuts or irritation. Mild pressure is normal when switching to a new aligner tray — typically 1-2 days. Over-the-counter pain medication handles any discomfort. Most patients report minimal pain compared to traditional braces.
Can Invisalign fix overbites and underbites?
Yes. Modern Invisalign with SmartForce attachments can correct most orthodontic issues including overbites, underbites, crossbites, open bites, crowding, gaps and crooked teeth. Severe cases may require Invisalign combined with auxiliary techniques like elastics, expanders or temporary anchorage devices. Dr. Mittu will confirm what's possible after your iTero 3D scan.
Can I eat with Invisalign?
Yes — and this is a major advantage over braces. Invisalign aligners are removed before eating, so there are no food restrictions. Eat anything you normally would. Remove aligners before eating or drinking anything other than water, brush your teeth after meals, and put the aligners back in. Aim for 20-22 hours daily wear for best results.
Will Invisalign give me a lisp?
You may notice a slight lisp during the first 1-3 days as your tongue adjusts to the thin aligner trays. This resolves completely within a week for most patients. The aligners are made of SmartTrack material — thinner and more comfortable than older clear aligner brands. After the initial adjustment period, normal speech returns.
